Neal Schon Defends Journey Bandmate Arnel Pineda Amid Negative Comments

Rock on Rio Performance Sparks Outrage

In a recent performance at Rock on Rio, Journey singer Arnel Pineda received negative comments for his performance. Pineda took to social media, expressing his devastation and offering to quit the band if a million fans told him to go. Neal Schon, Journey’s guitarist, has since come forward to defend Pineda, stating that another band’s actions caused Journey’s sound problems that night.

Schon Shares Video from the Stage

Schon shared a video from the stage, which showed fans having a good time, and wrote, "All this absolute garbage fabricated bullshit about [Arnel]. Does this look like nobody had a good time? I’m asking you. All fabricated, owned and bought blogs, bullshit." He echoed those thoughts while commenting on another Facebook post about the story, saying, "Arnel don’t listen to these blogs. They are all bought. You’ve kicked ass!"

Headline Act Imposed Sound Control

Schon explained that Journey found out after the show that they had been limited by the headline act, Avenged Sevenfold, which means that hardly any sound could get out of the PA to the audience. "It’s a bullshit move," he said. Despite this, he added, "Check out the audience. They loved it… the rest of it’s fabricated crap."

Audience Reaction

When asked why Journey’s sound tech couldn’t have resolved the problem, Schon replied, "No." Another fan explained that "sound equipment [can be] locked up and password protected." Asked why Avenged Sevenfold had been the headliner rather than Journey, Schon simply said, "Politics."

Tour Schedule

Journey’s current tour continues, with the next confirmed U.S. date set for December 28 in Lincoln, CA. They will also be performing in Japan in October.

Conclusion

Neal Schon’s defense of Arnel Pineda is a testament to the strong bond between the two musicians and their commitment to their band. Despite the negative comments, Journey’s fans are unwavering in their support for the band and their music.
