Sammy Hagar Explains Why Kenny Aronoff Replaced Jason Bonham on the Best of All Worlds Tour

In a recent interview with KSHE 95, Sammy Hagar discussed why Kenny Aronoff took over for Jason Bonham on the Red Rocker’s Best of All Worlds tour. Hagar explained that Bonham had to leave the tour to visit his mother in the UK after she suffered a stroke and went into a coma.

Jason Bonham’s Family Emergency

According to Hagar, Bonham’s mother’s condition was serious, and the whole family went to visit her. Bonham held out for two or three days before deciding he had to go and be with his family. Hagar understood the situation and gave Bonham permission to leave the tour.

"We told Kenny; he had about 24-hour notice, and he came in [for] the first night… at six in the morning," Hagar said. "We played that night in Cincinnati, and he did a 90-percent perfect show. I swear to you, I make more mistakes every night than he did! So that’s a big hats-off to this guy."

Kenny Aronoff’s Impressive Performance

Hagar was impressed with Aronoff’s performance, saying he did a great job of covering for Bonham. In fact, Hagar joked that Aronoff performed the Van Halen-heavy set list better than he did himself.

"I just love playing with him… he’s so enthusiastic. He’s the most enthusiastic guy – ‘Oh man, we’re gonna kill it! ‘Oh, don’t worry about me!’ He’s like, foaming at the mouth. He’s crazy!" Hagar exclaimed.

Sammy Hagar’s Thoughts on Jason Bonham’s Situation

Hagar expressed his understanding of Bonham’s situation, saying that he wouldn’t ignore a medical emergency with his mother. "If Jason is still with his mom, he’s gotta be there till she either comes through or… whatever," Hagar said, admitting he shouldn’t speculate. "But he’s got a medical emergency with his mother. You don’t ignore that."

In conclusion, Sammy Hagar’s Best of All Worlds tour with Kenny Aronoff filling in for Jason Bonham was a success. Hagar praised Aronoff’s performance, saying he did a great job covering for Bonham. Hagar also expressed his understanding of Bonham’s situation, saying he wouldn’t ignore a medical emergency with his mother.
