New Music
Robin Thicke has returned with his new single "I Know What to Do," a self-produced, laid-back groove that confidently assures his lover of immense pleasure in the bedroom.
Song Details
On the new single, Thicke promises to "stroke it hard like Tiafoe / Imma eat it all like it’s Nobu / Imma have you begging for more, begging for more / Harder baby, harder baby, how you like." The song is smooth and sexy, like a sunset yacht ride on a summer day.
Jay-Z’s Approval
Thicke revealed to Revolt that Jay-Z gave him his stamp of approval on the new single. "I remember I sent the record to him. I rarely ever send Jay a record, but I had a feeling about this one, so I sent it to him. I asked him, ‘Is this what I think it is?’ He was like, ‘Yeah, that’s exactly what you think it is (laughs).’ And he sent me a video concept, too. Shout out to Jay!"
New Album
"I Know What to Do" is the lead single from Thicke’s ninth album, which will release in February 2025. His upcoming album will follow 2021’s "On Earth, and in Heaven."
Inspiration
The latter project was inspired by Thicke’s late father, Alan Thicke. "My father passed away a couple of years ago, and I thought I had an album, and I had these songs that I wanted to put out, and then when that happened, it was something I wasn’t expecting, and it just kind of rattled my soul," he told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. "So, I took some time to re-think the album and then these songs started pouring out that had more meaning and more weight to them."
Music Video
Thicke has released a music video for "I Know What to Do," which features a collage of a tropical beach scene with a yacht, a vintage red car, and a hand holding a champagne glass.
Recent Collaborations
In 2022, Thicke released his Yo Gotti-assisted single "Brown Liquor," along with a music video. Thicke revealed that he had been holding onto the song for a while. "It didn’t really fit my last album," he shared. "My last album was called ‘On Earth, and in Heaven’ and it was about the people that are here and the people that have moved on. It was dedicated to my father, who passed away, and Andre Harrell, my mentor, who passed away."
Recent Releases
Thicke has also appeared on songs with Annie Tracy ("Close to You"), Stevie Matthew ("Hotel"), and Lizzen ("Why Remix").
