Historic Rock Documentary to Make Big-Screen Debut: ‘One Hand Clapping’ with Paul McCartney
A Rarity Revamped
In a welcome turn of events, a previously unreleased rock documentary featuring none other than music legend Paul McCartney will be gracing the big screens globally, starting September 26th. Shot in the 1970s on video tape, the iconic "One Hand Clapping" will receive the 4K restoration treatment it so deserves, offering viewers an unforgettable journey back in time with one of rock’s most beloved stars.
Recording a Live Album that Nearly Missed the Spotlight
It’s 1974, and the Wings supergroup, comprising the renowned bassist and singer Paul McCartney, have gathered at the iconic Abbey Road Studios for an impromptu recording session, accompanied by David Litchfield, the cinematographer responsible for capturing their lively performances. After an exhausting four-day-long jamming session, the duo leaves with some promising material, thinking little would come of this hastily shot and recorded video tape.
What was meant to become a live album did not see the light of day back in the 1970s. In its stead, bootleg recordings took on a new light, attracting underground fans worldwide. Many may even remember these secret performances on illicitly-produced bootleg cassettes and records, all but forgotten and nearly inaccessible. But we all are grateful for the enduring music from those bygone eras!
A Forgotten but Captivating Footage Emerges
Fast forward to present times, when David Litchfield’s 70’s recorded tape was taken off to 4K; something breathtaking is now becoming realizable – the documentary would release once again! No sooner were they in cinemas to view than tickets might come about!
According to our very own Mark Allenby, the CEO, speaking here on the subject we share that they’re in hopes "One Hand Clapping" comes closer to be recognized all the same as you look towards your front line view right through Paul M. for any number of the last one you heard, or more accurately; these were going at length back to its gold-time-rock-roll by getting as it did get on here."
